Textile Artist
As a founder member of TAGS I very much enjoy working in the group which provides a stimulating and inspirational exchange of ideas and techniques.
I have always had an interest in crafts and when I moved to Suffolk I decided it was time that I should learn more about techniques and design and spent the next five years taking the City and Guilds Creative Embroidery Course. A few years later I obtained a 2.1 BA (Hons) degree.
I choose to work in textiles because I love colour, texture and the challenge of creating something from a flat piece of material. Although I occasional work abstract or monochrome designs I prefer figurative work. My main inspiration comes from the natural world and the Suffolk landscape. I usually work from a rough outline and let the image develop as I stitch.
I incorporate a wide range of fabrics, fibres and paint in my work which is mainly machine stitched.
I would like to have far more time for stitching so that I can use up most of the materials I have collected over the years.
